Fastbraces in Stafford, VA: Straighter Teeth for Kids, Teens, and Adults

A braces option from our Stafford dentists, with Invisalign available as an alternative
Crowded, crooked, or gapped teeth are more than a cosmetic concern. They can be harder to clean and may wear unevenly over time. Fastbraces in Stafford, VA is one way to straighten them. It is a fixed braces system that Rai Family Dentistry offers for children, teens, and adults, so a parent and a middle schooler can both be treated in the same familiar office.
Fastbraces uses a bracket with a distinctive triangular shape and a single flexible wire. The design is intended to begin moving the root of the tooth and the visible crown together from the start of treatment. Treatment time varies with each person, and for suitable cases it is often shorter than with traditional braces. Dr. Shivaprasanna Rai and Dr. Paulina Oldland will tell you honestly whether Fastbraces fits your teeth and goals. If it does not, or if you would prefer removable clear aligners, we also provide Invisalign and can compare the two with you.
Fastbraces may be worth asking about if you or your child has:
- Crowded or overlapping teeth that trap food and plaque
- Gaps or spaces between teeth
- Teeth that are rotated or sit out of line with the rest
- A bite that does not meet evenly, such as a mild overbite or crossbite
- Teeth that have shifted after earlier orthodontic treatment
Getting started is straightforward. Your first visit includes an exam, digital X-rays, and photos or a digital scan of your teeth so your dentist can evaluate tooth positions and jaw relationships. Once a plan is agreed on, the brackets are bonded to your teeth and the wire is placed; no numbing is typically needed. After that you return for regular adjustment visits, where we check progress and make changes to keep your teeth moving in the right direction. When your teeth reach their planned positions, the brackets come off and you are fitted for retainers, which you will need to wear as directed to hold the result.
A few tips make life with braces easier:
- Brush after meals and clean around each bracket, since plaque collects there quickly
- Use floss threaders or small interdental brushes once a day
- Avoid hard, sticky, or very chewy foods that can pop a bracket loose
- Keep up with regular cleanings and checkups during treatment
- Call us if a wire pokes or a bracket comes off, so it can be fixed promptly
Some tenderness for a few days after braces go on or are adjusted is normal, and softer foods usually help. Orthodontic wax can cushion any spot that rubs your cheek or lip while you adapt.
Many PPO dental plans include an orthodontic benefit, though the details differ widely. Rai Family Dentistry accepts most PPO dental insurance plans, files claims for you, and gives you a written estimate before treatment starts. CareCredit, Alphaeon Credit, and Cherry payment plans are available if you would like to pay over time.
