Shivaprasanna Rai, DDS
Dr. Shivaprasanna Rai earned his BDS from the College of Dental Surgery KMC in Mangalore, India, in 1984 and then earned his MDS (Master’s Degree in Conservative Dentistry) in restorative dentistry and endodontics in 1988 from Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Manipal in Mangalore, India. Dr. Rai served as an assistant professor in the Department of Conservative Dentistry at the College of Dentistry at KMC in Bangalore in 1989. He then graduated with his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery degree) from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, in 1994. From 1994-1997, he was honored to work as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at VCU in Richmond.
While Dr. Rai has been practicing dentistry for over 35 years, he continues his education to expand his knowledge in different areas and stays updated with the newest technology and trends in the dental field. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, International Dental Implant Association, and Northern Virginia Dental Society. He is an alumnus of the Dawson Academy Alumni Association.
Dr. Rai’s greatest goal is to provide quality, comprehensive dentistry to all of his patients and their families in order to improve their health and self-esteem.
Dr. Rai is married and has one daughter. In his free time, he loves to travel.
